Quality Control Microbiology Supervisor
Career GuideKey Responsibilities
- Supervise daily microbiology testing for raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and environmental monitoring
- Review and approve laboratory data, notebooks, and reports for accuracy and completeness
- Ensure timely completion of testing to support manufacturing schedules and product release
- Lead investigations for out-of-specification results and contamination events
- Coordinate corrective and preventive actions and verify effectiveness
- Maintain laboratory readiness for audits and inspections
- Train and qualify analysts on methods, aseptic technique, and safety practices
- Manage laboratory resources including staffing, scheduling, and consumables
- Monitor performance metrics such as test turnaround time, deviations, and repeat testing
- Support method validation, method verification, and method transfers
- Ensure equipment calibration, maintenance, and documentation are current
- Promote a quality culture and reinforce data integrity expectations
