Career GuideKey Responsibilities
- Assist with measuring, marking, and cutting wood and other materials
- Carry and organize materials, tools, and equipment at the job site
- Set up and clean up work areas to keep the site safe and efficient
- Learn and follow blueprints and basic building plans
- Use hand tools under supervision such as hammers, levels, and tape measures
- Use power tools under supervision such as drills and saws
- Install basic framing elements under guidance
- Help with installing doors, trim, and cabinets under guidance
- Mix and apply adhesives, fasteners, and sealants as directed
- Follow safety rules and wear required protective equipment
- Communicate progress and issues to the lead carpenter or foreperson
- Record hours and training tasks for apprenticeship requirements
